The task of the department is to improve the educational process:
- to strengthen the links of the university with IT business of the Republic – the main customer of highly skilled human resources;
- to involve teachers-practitioners from science and IT business into the educational process.
The department conducts educational, methodological and research work:
- Development of academic and methodological complexes, curricula, programs, materials.
- Development of research works in:
- Development and implementation of software for corporative information
- Business analysis
- Consulting
- Applied software
- System programming
- Arrangement of internships for IT students.
- Arrangement of courses in software packages “1C”.
- Arrangement of olympiads, contests of graduation projects and other specialized events.

Graduates of the Department are mainly demanded by the State (including military authorities) and private companies with branched corporal networks. Apart from the basic courses, the students acquire advanced knowledge in programming languages, security of operation systems and databases, cryptographic methods of information security, technical information security, etc.

Department of Automated Data Processing and Control Systems was established in 1969 (at that time – Department of Machine Processing of Economic Information). In 1985 the department was renamed into the Department of Computer-Aided Design, and in 2001 it got its present name.

Department of Computer Software was established in 1969.
- obtain deep knowledge in computer science and computer mathematics, system and applied programming, organization of computers and networks, complexes and networks, operation and programming systems, databases and instrumental means for software development, system analysis and machine modeling, decision-making and management, data processing systems and AI;
- study languages: Turbo Pascal, C, C++, Visual C++, Java, Turbo-Prolog, Assembler, database and AI languages;
- master modern IT:
- development of software with complex data organization;
- object-oriented and visual programming;
- logic and functional programming;
- work with databases and their design, SQL-technologies;
- Internet-technologies;
- development and automation of design of applied, tool and system software;
- CASE-technologies;
- development of dialog software systems;
- computer graphics and graphic dialog;
- design of linguistic processes, translators, compilers and intellectual interface;
- AI;
- neural-computer systems;
- anti-virus protection, cryptography;

Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1959, it trains students in computers and complexes, systems and networks. The students obtain deep knowledge in computer science, calculus mathematics, system and applied programming, organization of computers and networks, complexes and networks, microprocessors, computer graphics, systems of data processing, AI systems, computer modeling, they study languages: Pascal, C, Assembler, modeling languages, data bases, etc.
