A cool program!

2013 09 11 01This summer 4 brave students from the Faculty of Heat Engineering successfully defended bachelor graduation projects at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences (Suderburg, Germany) on the double degree program.

Alena Tcyplenkova, Nikita Aimashev, Artur Cherepanov and Konstantin Lozin having studied at Kalashnikov ISTU on the program “Water and power supply for populated areas” for 6 semesters, continued their education for 2 semesters in Ostfalia on the program “Water supply and hydraulic engineering construction” and successfully defended bachelor graduation projects.

That was the first graduation on the program from the beginning of partner relations between our universities since 1994. After coming to Russia, our pioneers of this double degree program will be given the bachelor diplomas of Kalashnikov ISTU. Thus, the program is aimed at training highly qualified specialists able to work both in Russian- and German-speaking countries.

"A cool program", said Konstantin Lozin a year ago upon his arrival in Suderburg. "I obtained good practical skills in Ostfalia which I’ll use in my work afterwards ".

"It’s so nice to see that during many years of planning and coordinating between two different educational systems we managed to overcome all the obstacles and solve all the problems, and finally the program is turned into reality", rejoices Professor of Ostfalia, Doctor Honoris Causa of ISTU Andrea Töppe.

It is expected that next year German students will come for 2-semester studies at our university on this program and will eventually be granted two bachelor diplomas.

Professor of Ostfalia Artur Mennerich, the supervisor of graduation projects, is sure: “Power aspects of water supply and waste water purification will be more and more important in Russia”.

"The combination of city water and heat supply in the curriculum is interesting because it broadens the specialization of graduates and opens new opportunities and perspectives", supports his German colleague Professor of Kalashnikov ISTU Vitaly Isakov. "In the late August this year new students from the Faculty of Heat Engineeringwent to Ostfalia to study on the same program. Let’s wish them success!"

The idea of creating such a perspective program belongs to Professors Valery Didenko and Andrea Töppe; such universal specialists are in demand both in Russia and Germany.
