ISTU and Aalen University signed the agreement on double degrees
In October 2013 the delegation of Kalashnikov ISTU represented by the Rector Prof. Boris Yakimovich and Dr. Alexander Elensky, the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Accreditation visited Aalen University in Germany.
- Aalen University is our comparatively new partner, Alexander Elensky said reviewing the results of the visit. It is a small close-packed university with 5 faculties, whose majority of departments correspond to those of our university.
The cooperation with Aalen University started several years ago with a realistic step – the establishment of International Shared Research Center “Center of Surface Processing Technology” opened in the year 2012. This year in October Aalen University celebrated its 50th anniversary and we were invited as the representatives of Russian partner university. During the visit Prof. Gerhard Schneider, Rector of Aalen University and Prof. Boris Yakimovich, Rector Kalashnikov ISTU signed the agreement on double degrees in the field of mechanical engineering. Now joint curricula are being developed. Already in autumn 2014 our two master students will go to Germany for study placement and will eventually get two diplomas: of ISTU and Aalen University each.
Our universities are determined to continue the research cooperation. The idea is to create a laboratory for metal recycling at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University with the support of Aalen University.
Signing of the agreement on double degrees with Aalen University is another significant step in our international relations. In the academic year 2012-2013 twelve graduates of Kalashnikov ISTU were awarded double degrees. There are joint study programs with a double degree possibility between ISTU and a number of foreign partner universities, namely, Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic) in civil and instrumentation engineering, Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín (Slovak Republic) in power mechanical engineering, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in water and heat supply, Aalen University (Germany) in surface processing methods and Egyptian-Russian University (Egypt) in civil engineering, mechatronics and telecommunications.
In addition to Aalen University, during the academic year 2013-2014 Kalashnikov ISTU is starting to implement joint study programs and double degree programs with Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovak Republic) for master studies in integrated safety management and industrial management, with Széchenyi István University, Győr (Hungary) for master program in company marketing strategy.
