Professor Ekbert Hering, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU passed away

It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of our dear friend Prof. Dr. Ekbert Hering. He dedicated much of his life to strengthening international academic cooperation. He cared deeply about Kalashnikov ISTU, and always spoke with great admiration and respect about our university and its people. When recalling his visits to us, a deep nostalgia would come over him and he would speak of his wish to return once more. Unfortunately this wish didn’t come true…

Even in difficult times, he remained convinced that academic dialog and human connections across borders are of lasting importance. Those who had the privilege to work with him will remember his kindness, his commitment, his sincere belief in cooperation between nations and universities.

We will remember Ekbert as a dedicated professional and also a person who genuinely valued friendship, mutual understanding and intellectual exchange.

His passing is a great loss for everyone who knew him...
