Kalashnikov ISTU and Chinese educational corporation are strengthening cooperation

On June 02 Kalashnikov ISTU hosted the Chinese delegation from Zheman International Education & Technology Co., Ltd – one of our first partners. The educational corporation was represented by Li Yongxin, Vice General Director, Lei Ting, Head of Department of International Cooperation and Tian Lanxuan, an interpreter.

At the official meeting Kalashnikov ISTU was represented by Acting Rector Mikhail Pisarev, Acting Vice-Rector for Studies Olga Varfolomeeva, Head of Educational Department Maria Maiorova, Head of Division of Educational Communications Aleksandr Gubert, Director of Institute of International Study Programs Alexey Ryabchikov, Director of Center of International Academic Cooperation Tatiana Savchenko.

In his opening speech Mikhail Pisarev addressed the Chinese partners:

— I am sure the contacts between educational institutions from Udmurtia and China are very perspective. Our mutually beneficial relations can extend far beyond only study programs. And for this, future Chinese specialists and Russian engineers should understand each other and get along well. In this regard, we shouldn’t underestimate the academic mobility and double degree programs.

I know that we have already succeeded in certain areas and now we are in the process of making mature decisions related to the establishment of joint institute.

In his turn, Li Yongxin shared his experience of collaboration between Udmurtia and China:

— From my childhood I knew your republic as the weapon capital of Russia. And I am here for the third time already. In the process of cooperation we always encounter difficulties and challenges but I believe they can be settled. Once again I want to express my gratitude for your support and help to move forward together. I hope that in future our collaboration will only expand!

This year is also very important for us because the years 2026 and 2027 have been announced the years of Russian and Chinese cooperation in education. And from this perspective it is very symbolic that on September 01 we are launching the joint institute.

Aleksandr Gubert continued:

— It is really good that our cooperation is developing. You are quite right – we have known the colleagues from this educational corporation for quite a while already. Although the first program was not implemented due to various reasons, the Chinese partners were interested in collaboration with Russian universities and, first of all, with us! And we decided to work hard to reach another level – to create the joint institution that will be functioning on the basis of Hebei University of Environmental Engineering.

For the whole last summer we were working on preparing the set of documents and then exchanged visits during which we met the university administration and discussed the details of all three study programs to be launched from this academic year onwards. We also witnessed the construction of the new university building where the joint institution will be located. And we can really collaborate not only in education. I believe that having started with study programs we will further proceed with joint research works.

In the end of the meeting, the financial agreement on the implementation of joint study programs in the frameworks of joint Russian-Chinese Institute was signed.
