Incoming mobility
Kalashnikov ISTU welcomes students from our partner universities for a short-term program/internship. The following procedure needs to be followed:
- Select the study program, year of studies and language of instruction. It is possible to select only a few courses from the program and from different years of studies.
- Contact Mr. Sergey Babushkin at: sbabushkin@istu.ru and explain your intentions. If you were not able to select the courses from the study program, you can discuss it with him as well.
- At some point, you should also discuss your internship with your faculty/department and international office at your home university.
- Prepare the learning agreement or a similar document at your home university, fill in the required details and the selected courses. Your international office should send it to sbabushkin@istu.ru.
- Send your international passport scan to sbabushkin@istu.ru for the visa invitation. Please, indicate the planned arrival date, duration of stay and living preferences. The information about accommodation can be found here: http://inter.istu.ru/university/campus/accommodation. Mind that EU citizens apply for the visa to Russia with the scan of the invitation letter from Kalashnikov ISTU, while the non-EU citizens will need the invitation issued by the Russian migration authorities, which takes about 1 month.
- After you receive the invitation, apply for the visa in the nearest Russian Embassy in your home country.
- After you receive the visa, start preparing for the trip and buy the air ticket. Send its scan to sbabushkin@istu.ru to arrange the pickup in Izhevsk. Here are the details of how to get to Izhevsk: http://inter.istu.ru/izhevsk/how-to-get.
- When in Izhevsk, come to Registration and Visa Sector (address: 30 let Pobedy Str. 2, office 700) for registration.

Scientific Library of Kalashnikov ISTU was founded in 1952. It is the largest technical library in the Udmurt Republic. Its role in educational process is to assist the university in educational activities and research, in training highly skilled specialists and education humanization. The optimal system for rendering high-quality information-library services for users based on the broad access to the unified library fund and e-learning recourses has been developed.

The library activities contribute to the formation of intercultural medium in the university. International students learn how to communicate with students of different cultures and traditions.
Every year the scientific library arranges information and educative event «Open dialog of cultures» for international students of the university. They get acquainted with culture and traditions of Udmurt and Russian people.

The Health Center of Kalashnikov ISTU is located on campus near the swimming pool and stadium.
The aims
- Providing preventive medical and, if necessary, consultation and diagnostic assistance;
- Improving health of students, teachers and staff members of the university; forming healthy life style – reasonable combination of studies and work, rest and treatment, rational nutrition, preventive care of various diseases and bad habits.

The Health Center offers health resort treatment for students during 21 days.
The treatment covers:
- Therapeutic program: physiotherapeutic procedures, massage, pharmaceutical treatment (medications in the form of pills and injections)
- 4-time-a-day dietary nutrition
- Accommodation: block system with two comfortable 2-bed rooms in one block
The students will have consultations of therapist-gastroenterologist, neurologist.
The program of health improvement and correction of conditions of vertebral column and joints (dry traction with a special device) has been developed and introduced. The students can also attend the swimming pool.

The aim of Historical-Patriotic Center, as of any other museum, is to collect, process, study and exhibit materials about the life of Izhevsk Mechanical Institute – Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University for the public. For the years of the university existence, a lot of historical materials have been accumulated at the faculties and institutes, departments and divisions; many university staff members and student families keep them at home.

Safety
The safety of international students of Kalashnikov ISTU is provided by Department of Complex Safety. Its personnel supervised by Vice-Rector for Security and Regime arrange and conduct meetings with international students on safe stay on the territory of the Russian Federation with the participation of representatives of Department of Internal Affairs, acquaint them with the rules of accommodation in the hostel and campus. The pass entry system to the university objects has been introduced. Currently, hostel 6 is equipped with retina scanner entrance system, thus, providing additional security for international students. The campus territory is safeguarded by representatives of police, student security squad «Rys» («lynx» in English) and Department of Complex Safety. All buildings and hostels on campus are equipped with automatic fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and smoke ventilation systems. Besides, all university buildings and hostels are equipped with video surveillance systems.
Recreation
Student Palace «Integral» is very popular among the students. Apart from the conferences and meetings of all kinds, it hosts many students’ amusement festivities, such as intellectual and entertaining games Balda, multiple university and faculty parties, and discos.
