Forum of Rectors of Russia and Japan: results for the Udmurt Republic
Prof. Boris Yakimovich, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU, after his participation in V Forum of Rectors of Russia and Japan, commented the results of the forum for education in the Udmurt Republic.
In the beginning of March V Forum of Rectors of Russia and Japan took place in Chiba University (Tokyo). Traditionally the forum is held once in one and a half year. Universities host such events one after another. One of the initiators of this way of collaboration development is Prof. Victor Sadovnichy, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Doctor Honoris Causa of a number of Japanese universities.
Forum of 2015 was related to university role in modern society. 13 rectors of Russian universities and 28 of Japanese became participants of the meeting. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University was represented by its rector Prof. Boris Yakimovich. Participants of the symposium discussed problems of educational, scientific and cultural collaboration between universities. Participants presented reports about current development of universities in the global educational area.
Prof. Boris Yakimovich mentioned that one of the tasks during the visit was mending the contacts with Japanese universities which are preparing human resources for factories cooperating with Udmurt factories. “We are talking about OJSC “Elekond”, which is producing hi-tech modern condensers, about Izhevsk Automobile Plant with its co-founders “Renault” and “Nisan”, – said the rector.
“Next step in collaboration will be the exchange of information, making permanent dialog. I mean exchange of educational technologies. In Japan they don’t stop studying after university, they start to get additional education, professional competences. It’s very important for education of our engineers. At Kalashnikov ISTU we have practice-oriented education with base departments for leading factories of the republic. Experience exchange can bring positive results”.
During the visit Prof. Boris Yakimovich made the presentation about the role of technical universities in creating stable environment and visited laboratory of Chiba University and Panasonic corporation.
