Concert Tour of Aalen Symphonic Orchestra in Udmurtia

Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Udmurt Republic are organizing the concert tour of Aalen Symphonic Orchestra (Germany) in our Republic, dedicated to 175th anniversary of the great Russian composer Petr Tchaikovsky.

IMG 1238Aalen Symphonic Orchestra was founded in 1978 by Prof. Dr. Dr. Ekbert Hering who is still its President. He is also awarded with an honorary doctorate at Kalashnikov ISTU – one of the reasons for the concert tour to Udmurtia.

Aalen Symphonic Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras of amateurs in the eastern part of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. It consists of about 50 musicians, including professionals from internationally known German orchestras, semi-professionals and talented hobby-musicians.

PX8A0066The repertoire of the orchestra is broad, as it comprises all styles of music from the baroque to modern music. However, the focus is on the music of the 18th and 19th century, including the Russian composers such as Petr Tchaikovsky, Sergey Prokofiev, Dmitry Kabalevsky and Alexander Glazunov. In summer 2014 Aalen Symphonic Orchestra performed Kabalevsky’s 4th symphony with great success – the 3rd performance of this wonderful piece in Germany ever.

Thanks to its reputation, Aalen Symphonic Orchestra is often invited on concert tours. As an ambassador of its region, the tours led the orchestra to France, Italy and Hungary.

Olivier PolsChief Conductor of Aalen Symphonic Orchestra is the 26-year-old Olivier Pols. Olivier is one of the representatives of the next generation of conductors in Germany who was awarded by the German Music Council. In 2011 he reached the finals of the German Conducting Competition of Music Universities. Olivier already conducted some of the great German orchestras, such as MDR Symphonic Orchestra in Leipzig, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Orchestra of Opera of Mainz. On an international level, he conducted – among others – Orchestra of Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu (Estonia), Orchestra of Seoul National University (Korea), and Lucerne Festival Strings Orchestra (Switzerland).

The concert tour program comprises the concerts on 28 May at 18:00 in Peter Tchaikovsky Museum in Votkinsk, on 29 May at 15:00 in Students’ Palace of Kalashnikov ISTU “Integral”, and joint concert with State Symphonic Orchestra of the Udmurt Republic on 01 June at 18:00 in State Opera and Ballet House. Apart from the concerts, the guests will be welcomed by the Head of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Solovyov, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Udmurt Republic Vladimir Solovyov, Head of the city of Izhevsk Alexander Ushakov and Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU Boris Yakimovich, and will be offered an interesting cultural program.
