Start of the 15th International student athletics race dedicated to the Victory Day

In the morning of 4th of May the student athletics race, dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War has launched. It started from Students Palace "Integral" on Studencheskaya street. The jubilee fifteenth international race was held on the route "Izhevsk-Minsk-Brest-Izhevsk".

The delegation of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University consisted of 15 best students: A-level students, volunteers, winners of various academic and artistic competitions, student government and student media journalists led by the rector of the university Valery Pavlovich Grakhov.

First, the rector of the university welcomed the participants and reminded that the tradition of athletics races in honor of Victory Day has already 40-year history (the first race took place in 1977). And today it is not just the university but the 15th international student race: "... we will bring to our fraternal republic the warmth of our hearts and the warmth of our smiles, and to us, I hope – we will bring a really warm spring".

Then the Minister of Education and sciEnce of the Udmurt Republic Svetlana Bolotnikova and Deputy Minister for Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of Udmurtia Dmitry Gavrikov addressed their greetings to the participants.

At the end of the meeting, a solemn laying of flowers to the bust of Mikhail Kalashnikov was held, and to the sounds of "Slavyanka" the participants of the race started the run on Studencheskaya street.

On the first day the participants took the route Malaya Purga – Mozhga – Alnashi and stayed overnight in Cheboksary, the next day, the run started to Nizhny Novgorod where the students of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev joined the race. During 10 days of the action, the participants made their way through the hallmark hero cities. On May 8, our delegation arrived in Minsk and, together with Belarusian National Technical University – the organizer of the race from the Belarusian side, celebrated the Victory Day.
