Internship in Germany

Academic mobility is becoming an increasingly important part of the educational process in higher education. Institute of Power Engineering and Housing & Utility Infrastructure of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University has been cooperating with Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences for many years. As you know, German students come to us for an internship, and ours – go to get knowledge to them.

So, from 8 to 16 December, eight 2- and 3-year students of the Institute of Power Engineering and Housing & Utility Infrastructure had the internship in Suderburg (Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences) in order to obtain new, useful knowledge in the field of water supply and sanitation of populated areas. The group was headed by the senior lecturer of the Department of Water Supply and Water Preparation Elena Grinko and the Head of the Specialized Department of Engineering Systems of Housing and Utility Infrastructure at MUE “Izhvodokanal” Associate Professor Marianna Svalova.

The internship program contained lectures, laboratory works, excursions. For example, the students with great interest listened to the lecture on pipeline construction technology. They visited the Laboratory of Mechanics and Soils. And in the Laboratory of Hydraulics the students independently made calculations and solved the problems. One of the laboratory works – on the model of the river bed – the students measured the speed of water movement in the river at different depths. In Hamburg, the delegation visited the sewage treatment plant and the drinking water plant. They were particularly impressed with the excursion to the gateways in the city of Uelzen.

During the meeting, the representatives of the two universities pointed out the success in joint educational projects. It should be mentioned that the professors of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering listened with great interest to Marianna Svalova, who made the presentation of the biogas plant, its design and the results of their research conducted on it.

The goal of the internship has been achieved – new knowledge and unforgettable impressions have been gained.
