The department trains master students in study program «Mechanics and Mathematical Modeling» (major: «Continuum Mechanics»).

The purpose of the program is to train highly qualified specialists possessing both theoretical and practical knowledge, and professional skills in:

  • modern challenges in mechanics;
  • theoretical hydromechanics of Newtonian media;
  • continuum mechanics;
  • deformation of viscoelastic media;
  • parallel programming;
  • task-level programming packages;
  • experimental aeromechanics.

Due to the multidisciplinary education, master graduates are able to develop and operate new products, processes and systems demanded by the market.

The history of the department starts with the history Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. Initially the department conducted the educational process in philosophical and sociological fields, and then psychological and cultural courses have been added.

The department was established in September 2018 after the merger of two departments: «Philosophy» and «Sociology, Psychology and Culture Studies».

Department of History of Russian Statesmanship was established in 2005 on the basis of the Department of Social-Political History due to increased demand for specialists able to provide effective functioning of the systems of state and municipal administration.

The priority – professional training in the field of state and municipal administration possessing the complex of professional competencies to perform administration functions (planning of individual and collective activities; organization of work by objectives, resources and result; control and coordination of activities in external environment; management of the team and coordination of activities in external environment; motivation of the personnel; representation of the institution and its external interests; research and diagnostics of problems, forecasts, objectives and situations; regulation of innovative activities, as well as advisory, methodological and educational work), readiness to perform general professional tasks in changing internal and external environment.

Department of Engineering Graphics and Advertising Technology was established in 1952 as Department of Descriptive Geometry and Drawing, and was renamed in 2003. Only professionals have been involved in the educational processes from the very first day: journalists, artists, managers in mass media and advertising agencies.

Apart from the development of teaching methodological base, one of the most important factors of which is skill update of teachers, the Department pays much attention to improving the quality of work with students. The main tool is the system of knowledge rating evaluation. The system made the educational process uniform, improved the rhythm of students’ work, increased the students’ responsibility for quality of educational works.

Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is an associated member of Research and Educational Center of Nanomaterial Science of the university, which is a satellite of REC of Chemical Physics and Mesoscopy at the Presidium of Udmurt Research Center, Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, it is also a member of public organization «Nanomaterials and Nanotechnologies».

The Department conducts lectures, practical and laboratory works in chemistry for all engineering students of the university.

Department of Physics and Optical Engineering was established in 2010 as a result of the merger of Department Laser systems and Physics. The Department conducts lectures, practical and laboratory works in all chapters of general physics for all engineering students of the university.

It also organizes Olympiads in physics.

The Department also trains students in laser engineering and laser technologies. The students specialize in laser systems and laser technologies, devices, systems, complexes and elemental base of optical and laser engineering; manufacturing technologies of optical materials, elements, devices and systems; software and computer technologies in laser engineering.

The work of Department of Mathematical Support for Information Systems is aimed at training highly skilled specialists in the field of information systems, modeling and control. This provides professional demand for its graduates at the labor market. The graduates can work in all spheres where automated control systems, systems of automatic control and computer engineering are applied, for instance, program engineers, system analysts, IT specialists.

Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (former Department of Applied Mathematics) was established in 1975 to train engineers-mathematicians. In 1987 new specialty «Applied Mathematics» was opened. During the period of its existence the Department trained over 400 specialists, including 17 Candidates of Science (PhD).

Department of Higher Mathematics was established in 1952. At the moment, the Department educates over 60% of students of the university. The Department works out e-learning complexes in different chapters of mathematics. A lot of attention is paid to methodological work. The academics of the Department prepared and published about 50 methodological aids, some of them are labeled by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

The university pays great attention to physical education and sport training of students. The course of physical training is included in study programs of all faculties and institutes. The classes are conducted for improving the health, overall development and training of healthy human resources for future work.

Currently the department conducts the educational process both as the one of general education – teaching the federal course “Physical training” and as the graduation one – teaching bachelor and master students in study program “Physical Training”.

Activities of the graduates:

Department of Professional Pedagogics was established in 1997 on the basis of Faculty of Engineering Pedagogics following the labor market demand for pedagogical workers with higher engineering education at secondary and primary professional educational institutions.
