Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU – three-time Doсtor Honoris Causa

img01Rector of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University Boris Yakimovich is awarded the title Doсtor Honoris Causa of Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic.

The official ceremony took place in the Rectorate of Brno University of Technology on May 20, 2013. Among the guests of the ceremony was the General Consul of the Russian Federation in Brno Andrei Sharashkin.

img02The decision to nominate the Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU for the honorary title was made by the Senate of Brno University of Technology having highlighted his merits and significant role in establishing partner relations between our universities which have been fruitfully and successfully developed for over ten years already. Brno University of Technology – the oldest higher educational institution in Czech Republic well-known for its academic traditions, wonderful material base and high professional rating in Europe and the USA – is one of our strategic international partners. The first agreement of cooperation between ISTU and BUT was signed in 2002 and resigned in 2007 and 2012, with bilateral agreements to follow, and currently 16 faculties and 1 branch from both sides are actively involved in the collaboration. Bynow, over hundred undergraduate and postgraduate students had internships and studied in Russia and Czech Republic.

It should be pointed out that Boris Yakimovich has been awarded the title Doctor Honoris Causa by two more foreign partner universities – Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia and Belorussian National Technical University. So this title is the third already.
