Inaugural Meeting of the Academic Council of Kalashnikov ISTUOn April 22, the first day of the work of the VI International Conference “Technical Universities: Intergration with European and World Education Systems”, traditional meeting of the Academic Council and the Ceremony of awarding the titles of “Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU” were held. New Doctors Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU became the rector of University of Pécs (Hunagry) József Bódis (Pécs, Hungary) and director of ZEH (Zeh Metallveredelungs GmbH, Stuttgart, Germany) Horst Dettinger.

The award “Doctor Honoris Causa Kalashnikov ISTU” was introduced ten years ago, in 1994, and among the first honorary doctors was M.T. Kalashnikov.

Aleksandr V. Elensky, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Accreditation of Kalashnikov ISTU, presented the first nominee of the honorary title, József Bódis:

Inaugural Meeting of the Academic Council of Kalashnikov ISTUProfessor József Bódis was born on July 12, 1953. In 1977 hegraduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Pécs, he rose through the ranks from an ordinary physician, then as the head of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Hospital of Pécs to the Dean of the Faculty of health sciences, professor, doctor of medicine and rector of University of Pécs.

Dr. Bódis is the author of 224 books and 202 research papers; he is actively cooperating with scientists of many foreign countries in the professional field. Dr. Bódis is the President of the rectors’ conference of Hungary, a member of Hungarian Society of Obstricians and Gynecologists, the president of Hungarian Society of gynecologists and endoscopists, a member of Hungarian Association of Assisted reproduction, a member of editorial board of the journal of Hungarian gynecologists. Prfoessor JózsefBódis was a member of the group, involved in the creation of the first “test-tube baby”, he also made a number of unique surgeries in his professional area. His biography is published in the 15-18th editions of biographical reference book “Who is Who: the World Edition”.

University of Pécs, headed by JózsefBódis, is one of the oldest universities in Europe (it was founded in 1367), is one of the largest univerisites of Hungary with a very wide range of teaching and research activities today. 29,000 students on more than 500 educational programs study there. Cooperation between our university and the Unviersity of Pécs began in October 1998, and from 2000 acquired intergovermental status.

Annually Kalashnikov ISTU and University of Pécs implement the program of cultural student exchanges, when students of a partner university get acquainted with the education system, culture, traditions and the life in Izhevsk andPécs. Students, lecturers and scientists of our universities participate in academic exchanges, conferences and training courses, organized by Kalashnikov ISTU and the University of Pécs on the basis of equality. With the support of both rectors, lecturers of our universities read the lectures in the partner universities, conduct joint researches.

According to the Academic Council of Kalashnikov ISTU five professors of Unviersity of Pécs are Doctors Honoris Causa of our university. Dr. Bódis continues these traditions and does everything for strengthening and developing the academic, scientific and educational relations between our universities”.

The second nominee was presented by the Vice-Rector for Extra-Curriculum and Social Work Aleksandr G. Balitsky:

Inaugural Meeting of the Academic Council of Kalashnikov ISTUHorst Dettinger was born on March 21, 1949 in Stuttgart (Germany), he has a degree in the field of “Business Management”. Afer training as a technician in the company “Hahn&Kolb”, Stuttgart, he graduated in 1973 the specialty “Business Administration”. During these years Horst Dettinger in addition to his job, studied economics, in particular, distribution sales, purchasing, inventory management, organization theory and data processing.

March 1, 1988 Hosrt Dettinger took the management of ZEH Galvanik, founded in 1928, as a co-owner and CEO. Subsequently, he and his team had implemented an innovative strategy of Horst Dettinger, turning the former handicraft company in efficient industrial enterprise, where staff education and their training without discontinuing work are very important. The company was chosen as a direct supplier for the automotive, eletronic, energy industries, and also enterprisese of environmental technologies.

Professional education and on-job training, combined with a scientific approach, directly impact on the success of the enterprise. As a result of productive and close cooperation with the University of Aalen in the technical and scientific fields of material science and the surface processing technology, as well as the University of Stuttgart in the field of environmental protection (water resources and waste water treatment), the company was able to implement educational projects, covering different levels.

This approach based on the international relations, remained unique in the field of material science and surface processing technology. IncountriessuchasIran, Azerbaijan, ChinaandRussiathe curriculum and the concept of professional education were developed in these key technologies.

Creation of such international projects combines scientific data with practical experience and rapidly increases innovation potential of partners. Particularly, cooperation with Kalashnikov ISTU should be considered as a pilot project, the idea of which is in carrying out in ISTU the creation of extra research communities in addition to bachelor and master programs.

The result of work on the implementation of this idea has become a scientific and educational project BEX16210 “Staff training for Russian companies using advanced environmentally friendly technology of surface processing. Design and construction of experimental equipment and transfer of know-how and production components” in cooperation with the University of Aalen and companies ZEH and MVK supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Germany.

ZEH represented by Horst Dettinger played a key role in this project – development and implementation of the project, acquisition and installation of equipment, know-how transfer, training the specialists on this equipment.”

According to the ceremony, the nominees uttered a solemn oath “…to make efforts for the development and presperity of ISTU”.
