22 img01On December 10-13 two students of our university took a unique opportunity – to participate in I National Forum of Young Leaders in International Education «Community» under the auspices of Tyumen State University.

22 img02The selection was quite tough but Sofia Serkova and Amira Orudzheva were invited to represent Kalashnikov ISTU and International Division of Coordination Student Council of Kalashnikov ISTU. The Forum «Community» gathered together young leaders from 19 Russian cities and over 10 countries.

The main objectives of the Forum:

  • deepening cultural links between Russian and foreign young people;
  • sharing the experience in developing and implementing youth projects in international education;
  • facilitating the search of new resources, effective mechanisms and models in education internationalization;
  • facilitating the objective perception in the world of transformations taking place in Russian society.

The Forum program was quite various: tour of Tyumen, workshops, training programs «Formation of intercultural competencies at HEIs» and «Arrangement of international youth exchanges», webinars and panel discussions. But despite the vast training program, the social events were also arranged: intellectual game «Brain games» in Black Tie format, sportive events (Zumba Fitness, Yoga, CrossFit) and evening concerts.

The famous guests were welcomed at the Forum: Dr. Julian Schuster, Senior Vice-President of Webster University (St. Louis, USA), Dr. Timothy O’Connor, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of National University of Science and Technology MISiS (Moscow, Russia), Mr. Sven-Olov Carlsson, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Russia, Dr. Joel Ericson, Director of the Fulbright Program in Russia, Mr. Adu Yao Nikez, President of Association of Foreign Students of Russia.

«In my opinion, the Forum was a success and the organizers fulfilled the tasks set. All participants, coaches, guests, invited speakers were united by one common goal – To build bridges in places where the others build walls. The Forum taught us a lot and inspired to new projects which we are going to realize soon. Only we can make the world better and the boundaries are in our heads. Starting with ourselves, we can contribute a lot to internationalization and globalization of education», says Sofia Serkova, a student of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Chairperson of International Division of Coordination Student Council of Kalashnikov ISTU.
