Attractive electroplating process – focus on chemical nickel plating
On 21 April Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University hosted the scientific-practical workshop «Modern electroplating technologies of Atotech GmbH. Equipment and treatment of sewage water. Training of human resources» in the Center of Surface Processing Technologies of Kalashnikov ISTU.
The workshop was organized together with LLC «Atotech-Chemeta» which is the official representative of Atotech GmbH in Russia – the global developer and manufacturer of electroplating processes, materials, technologies and equipment. The company was among the partners participating in the establishment of Center of Surface Processing Technologies opened at our university in June 2013.
This was already the second workshop that gathered large enterprises of the Udmurt Republic having electroplating production, such as OJSC «Kupol», OJSC «Izhevsk Moto Plant «Aksion-Holding», OJSC «Izhevsk Mechanical Plant», medium and small companies, as well as representatives from Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, Perm krai, Kazan, and our foreign guests from Atotech GmbH and Zeh GmbH (General Director – Dr. Horst Dettinger, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU) – 52 participants all in all. The latter played the leading role in the foundation of Center of Surface Processing Technologies at Kalashnikov ISTU.
According to the workshop moderator – Prof. Dr. Mikhail Pletnev, Head of Center of Strategic Initiatives and Development of Kalashnikov ISTU, the main idea of the meeting was to inform the companies in Udmurtia and Volga-Ural region about the new material processing technologies.
After the workshop the participants visited Center of Surface Processing Technologies and discussed the challenges in electroplating technologies. The workshop will definitely contribute to enhancing the cooperation between business, science and education.
