We regret to inform you about the death of the honorary professor of ISTU Sherif Soliman

Kalashnikov ISTU rectorate regrets to inform you that the President of Egyptian-Russian University, honorary professor of ISTU Doctor Sherif Mohammed Helmi Abdel Soliman died in 76th year of life.

Dr. Sherif Mohammed Helmi Abdel Soliman was born on the October 11, 1941 in Cairo (Egypt). He was working as a Counsellor on Cultural Affairs of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Moscow; up to 2006, he worked as a professor of Helwan University (Cairo).

Due to Dr. Sherif’s interest in the relation development between our countries, cities, universities and people a Treaty on educational and scientific cooperation between Helwan University and ISTU was signed on March 21, 2002.

Dr. Sherif actively participated in organization and holding a top-level seminar on application of advanced quality technologies in industrial systems in April 2003 at Helwan University within the International Scientific and Practical Conference on Quality In Egypt.

Starting in 2003 50 – 60 students of Helwan University took their summer training at ISTU and industrial enterprises of Izhevsk under the supervision of Dr. Sherif. Getting acquainted with ISTU made Dr. Sherif suggest a long-term cooperation with our university, including establishment of the first Egyptian-Russian University (ERU) in autumn 2006 with support of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt  Hosni Mubarak. Honorary ISTU Rector Ivan Abramov and the chief small-arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov joined the governing board of ERU at the suggestion of Dr. Sherif. ERU educational process is held in accordance with the conformed ISTU curricula with the issuance of joined degrees.

The first turn-out of Egyptian students according to the joined degree programme was in June 2016. Dr. Sherif took an active part in the International conference “Technical universities: integration with European and world systems of education” being held from 2004 and was a great friend and a true partner of our university.
