Partner Universities: Cooperation as a Development Factor

On May 9 the festive and sports program of the traditional XIV International student athletic race dedicated to the Victory in World War IIwas completed.

And on May 10 the official meeting of Prof. Valery Grakhov, the Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU, representatives of administration and heads of delegations of the universities participating in the student marathon, namely, Belarusian National Technical University, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a R.E. Alekseev, Chuvash State Pedagogical University n.a. I.Ya. Yakovlev and Kazan Federal University (Elabuga Institute) was held. The issues discussed covered the latest developments in the life of partner universities, general problems and issues of long-term cooperation.

Inviting colleagues to discussion, Prof. Valery Grakhov spoke about the changes in the leadership of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, development of the material and technical base of the university and its infrastructure, plans to open new study programs, release of specialists for the housing and communal services sector, and program of the forthcoming celebration of the 100thanniversary of Mikhail Kalashnikov, who is the universitynamed after.

The representatives of Elabuga Institute told the participants about the formation of priorities in the university development in connection with the peculiarities of KFU development as a federal university. The delegates of NSTU named after R.E Alekseev reminded the colleagues about the problems of the branches of Russian universities,and the Vice-Rector of BNTU G.A Vershina expressed his opinionabout the importance and need to «... to care and grow the tree of our mutually beneficial cooperation ...»

The participants of the meeting spoke about concrete opportunities for cooperation in educational and scientific spheres, and a number of proposals and ideas were expressed: development of internship programs for specialists, prospects for the project of bi-national programs, opportunities for Russian professors to read lecture courses at BNTU, need for cooperation in creating new dissertational boards (aging of scientific personnel is a common problem), joint programs and projects for individual study areas: programmers, students of physical training departments, etc., participation in major scientific forums of leading scientific schools of partner universities.

In addition to the social program for our guests (excursion to the ethnographic complex «Ludorvai» and Petr Tchaikovskyhouse museum estate in Votkinsk), our partners got acquainted with the shooting gallery of the Department of Small Arms, where a modern ballistic measuring system of the company «Prototypa» (Czech Republic)is installed, – none of Izhevsk enterprises and polygons in our country has such system.
