12th Azerbaijan international exhibition «EDUCATION-2018»
From 11 to 13 October the delegation of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University – Director of the Institute of International Study Programs Alexey Ryabchikov and Vice-Rector for Material and Technical Development Yury Sitnikov, presented the university at the exposition of Russian education at the 12th Azerbaijan International Exhibition «EDUCATION-2018» in Baku. This year 135 educational institutions from 12 countries and more than 90 different faculties took part in the exhibition.
Azerbaijan International Exhibition «EDUCATION-2018” was held with the support of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. The exposition of Russian education was presented by the Association for Humanitarian Cooperation with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo.
Together with Kalashnikov ISTU, the international exhibition was attended by 14 leading Russian universities, most of them — regional ones, actively developing international cooperation in a wide range of activities.
According to Alexey Ryabchikov, there is a stable stereotype about the quality of education in Russian universities in the minds of Azerbaijanian students. Therefore, the main purpose of the exhibition was not so much to recruit new foreign students, but to break this stereotype. And it happened!
At the exposition of Russian education, high school students, applicants and their parents, students and teachers of universities of Baku and regions of Azerbaijan were able to get information about educational organizations, programs and training opportunities in Russia, as well as to ask questions directly to representatives of educational organizations.
More than 300 visitors of the exhibition were interested in studying at Kalashnikov ISTU. The study program of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering «Machinery and equipment of oil and gas fields», also taught in English, was of particular interest. «As we have such a request, we will develop the program of this direction in English and will actively train the teaching staff», said Alexey Ryabchikov.
The proposals of our university in IT, engineering, construction, economic, architecture, technospheric security and instrument-making programs also interested the visitors. Not only undergraduate programs, but also the postgraduate ones were demanded. The representatives of our delegation emphasized not only the highly professional education at the university, but also the issues important for foreigners: comfortable living conditions, interesting and varied leisure, employment opportunities in Russia and national tolerance of the local population.
Now 6 students from Azerbaijan are studying at Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. Next spring, the Association of Humanitarian Cooperation plans to hold a specialized exhibition of Russian education in Azerbaijan, after which we hope to increase the number of Azerbaijanian students.
