A visit from Germany

visit-from-germany-01On November 13 Prof. Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University met with the German delegation: Prof. Ekbert Hering, Emeritus Rector of Aalen University, Carina Wirth, a master student of Kalashnikov ISTU and Stefan Hering – the son of Prof. Hering – a PhD student of Kalashnikov ISTU.

It should be pointed out that as a true «Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU» – this title was awarded to Prof. Ekbert Hering in our university – is permanent participant of joint research and educational projects and other important events of partner universities. One of such large projects was the establishment of electroplating laboratory at our university in 2013. Prof. Hering had ten years of rectorship, extensive experience in international accreditation of education, and, as a member of the experts of the Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZEvA) (Germany), has a fairly complete picture of the activities of our university.

«Today we are here to continue and expand the cooperation between the two universities: Kalashnikov ISTU and Aalen University» – Prof. Hering said about the purpose of the visit. – «Nowadays our university is teaching courses on the Internet of Things, and we are ready to help you in the organization of such courses. Today, this is a very important issue – to teach how to develop «smart» devices for a comfortable life of a modern man».

«Also, our university has experience in the international summer schools, and we hope that students of Kalashnikov ISTU will come to us and participate in it. This will also affect the ranking of our universities. I believe that the exchange of students, teachers, opinions and ideas is a great opportunity for the development of the two partner universities».

As you know, our universities share not only technical knowledge, but also their cultural heritage. Founded in 1978 by Prof. Hering, Aalen Symphonic Orchestra is today one of the leading amateur orchestras in Eastern Germany. This orchestra performed with great success at the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Petr Tchaikovsky.

«And we will continue our cooperation in this area», Dr. Hering shares his plans. – We have already met with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Udmurt Republic and reached an agreement that the Udmurt Symphonic Orchestra will come to us first, and most likely it will be in 2020, and then we will come back. The most important thing is that we always speak the language that we understand. We understand that we need each other, so we always work very well».
