VIII International Conference «Technical Universities: Integration with European and World Education Systems»
On April 23-24 Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University hosted the traditional International Conference “Technical Universities: Integration with European and World Education Systems”. It was already the eighth conference starting from 2004.
The conference was opened on April 23 with the plenary session. Among the guests and participants of the conference were the representatives of universities from Russia, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Germany, Egypt, Republic of Belarus.
The plenary presentations were made by Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU «Kalashnikov ISTU: topical aspects of international cooperation», Petr Štěpánek, Rector of Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic «BUT – its place in European educational & research area», Peter Lipták, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development of Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovak Republic, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU «Specifics of Slovak technical education in the frameworks of integration with European and world education systems», Horst Dettinger, CEO of Zeh Metallveredelung GmbH, Germany, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU, Ekbert Hering, Emeritus Rector of Aalen University, Germany, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU «The galvanic lab of Kalashnikov ISTU as a successful model of international and national exchange in education, research and transfer», Oleg Gusev, Vice-Rector for Studies of Belorussian National Technical University, Republic of Belarus, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU «Improvement of BNTU activities based on the model «University 3.0»
The conference program continued in the House of Peoples’ Friendship with the solemn ceremony of Kalashnikov ISTU Senate. The ceremony was opened by Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU and followed up by Senior Vice-Rector Aleksandr Gubert with the presentation «Kalashnikov ISTU – center of education and social adaptation of international students in the Udmurt Republic». After that the solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas and gowns of Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU to Oleg Gusev (Republic of Belarus), Rostislav Drochytka (Czech Republic) and Peter Lipták (Slovak Republic) took place. The program was finished by the concert with national folk songs, dances and bright costumes.
On April 24, the second day of the conference, foreign delegations were received by Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU. During the reception, the aspects of cooperation between our universities were discussed. There was mutual understanding that our collaboration is fruitful, mutually beneficial and should be extended and continued. In the end of the meeting, the extensions of cooperation agreements between Kalashnikov ISTU and University of Pécs (Hungary), University of Zadar (Croatia), Technical University of Zvolen (Slovak Republic) and Leuphana University Lüneburg (Germany) were signed.
