Traditional 16th Victory athletics race: meeting friends
This year, the traditional athletics race dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was also dedicated to 2 other important dates: 100th jubilee of Mikhail Kalashnikov and 75th anniversary of the liberation of Republic of Belarus from Nazis.
The race was launched on May 5 in Belarus and on May 7 the tree teams, participants of the race, gathered in front of the Students’ Palace «Integral» – teams of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University n.a. R.E. Alekseev and Belarusian National technical University.
Each team was represented by the best students: A-level students, volunteers, winners of various academic and artistic competitions, student government and student media journalists.
The participants were welcomed by Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU, Aleksandr Bakhanovich, Vice-Rector for Studies of BNTU and Viktor Mogutnov, Vice-Rector for Extracurricular Work of NNSTU. Then the delegations had a tour of Kalashnikov ISTU campus and the concert.
On May 8 the race participants were received by Valery Grakhov, Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU. The meeting started with brief presentations of the universities and the video dedicated to the 15th race held last year. Then, after the welcoming address of Valery Grakhov, the open discussion started, in the course of which the participants exchanged their opinions and experience in patriotic upbringing of young generation.
The program continued on May 9 with the participation in university and city events dedicated to the Victory Day. The guests also visited Mikhail Kalashnikov Museum in Izhevsk and Peter Tchaikovsky Museum in Votkinsk.
The race participants left Izhevsk on May 10.
