From June 30 to July 4 XV World Congress of the International Federation of Theory of Machines and Mechanisms (IFToMM) took place at Jagiellonian University of Krakow (Poland), during which the 50th anniversary of this respected non-governmental scientific organization was celebrated (http://iftomm2019.com). More than 600 participants from all over the world gathered at the congress.

Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University (ISTU) was represented by Professor E.S. Trubachev («Topics of spiroid gearings») and Professor E.G. Krylov («Application of the method of vector contours in teaching TMM»). The results research of Izhevsk scientists will be published in Springer collection.

The Russian delegation was headed by the Director of the Institute of Machine Science Professor V.A. Glazunov. During the Congress the elections of IFToMM governing bodies for the next four-year period were held. The representatives of Kalashnikov ISTU will work in the committees on gearings and education.

Active participation of Kalashnikov ISTU in IFToMM allowed our university to win the competition for hosting a significant international event – X World Student Olympiad on Theory of Machines and Mechanisms in 2020. Kalashnikov ISTU is the only university entrusted with hosting such an event for the second time (the first Olympiad was held at our university in 2011). The Olympiad will be held in cooperation with Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Participation in the A-rank scientific forum leaves a lasting impression, not only to be aware of advanced theoretical and practical achievements, but also to meet personally with colleagues and luminaries in the field of TMM, such as, for example, Professor John Uicker (USA, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_J._Uicker), the author of numerous cutting-edge scientific papers, international textbooks on TMM, which in the English speaking world are analogues of textbooks by I.I. Artobolevsky and K.V. Frolov. The work of the Congress sections was devoted to numerous scientific areas of mechanics-robotics, solid state mechanics, lever mechanisms, engines and transmissions, biomechanics and many others.
