I was not psychologically ready when I started packing a week before I left for Russia, and I did not even prepare warm winter clothes. And my first problem in Russia arouse at the airport, because I could not speak Russian or English well. There were some difficulties with my passport, — I had to stay there for four hours. I had no Internet, no connection with my parents and the person who was waiting for me on this side. At some point, I thought I was going to be sent out of the country, and I was panicking, but fortunately, everything ended up fine.

Now it’s been a year since I came to Russia. I am learning Russian at the Preparatory Department and actively perceive everything related to the history of this country. Especially since everything I learn here is very different from what we hear in the media. The climate here is different from what I’m used to, but over time, people adapt to everything. I think many foreigners think that Russians are cold and indifferent, but when I arrived here, I realized that the people here are very friendly, welcoming and happy. I enjoyed working with Russian people, I was at parties with them, I like their live communication, politeness and a good sense of humor. I really like living in Russia, I make new friends, and I learn more about these wonderful people.

During the time I have spent here in Russia, I can say that the most shocking thing is the harsh and unexpected climate. Sometimes, when the sun shines, the temperature is −20 ⁰C. Izhevsk is a quiet city, and life here is not expensive. The people I met here are serious and hardworking. In general, I find the way of life of Russian people interesting. As for the language, this is a really big problem I’m facing here. A lot of grammar, a lot of words that are really hard to remember and pronounce. However, I am very motivated to learn Russian. I like to write Russian texts in a handwritten style, and I look forward to the time when I can speak Russian fluently.

October 7, 2019 is the day when I made my first step in Russia. It wasn’t like seeing a new place for the first time. There were people of all ages from all over the world. To be precise, it was St. Petersburg, one of the best cities in Russia or even in the world. I only spent 5 days there, but they were the best for me.

October 12, 2019 – and again a new experience, a new life, new people. A small city, but beautiful, I felt myself like I’m at home when I was in Izhevsk. There are wonderful people here who are ready to help, who kindly accept even strangers. “Being a good person is something that doesn’t depend on your religion or social status, race or color, political views or culture, it depends on how much goodness you have in your attitude to others”, told me the first person whom I met here.

I started studying Russian at the University three months ago. The teachers are kind, nice and help us in everything. They do everything for us and our understanding of information, and I really appreciate the work they do for us.

It’s a great feeling to go to another country and see how people live differently, speak differently, look at the world differently...

This is what I realized one day: how great and beautiful our world is...
