Rector’s reception of foreign delegations

Rectors-reception-1On February 21 the rector’s reception of foreign partners and representatives of Association of International Students of Russia was arranged in the frameworks of events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Kalashnikov ISTU.

Opening the reception, Aleksandr Gubert, Acting Rector of Kalashnikov ISTU, said: «Today we have here those who were the initiators of cooperation between universities of different countries, those who took part in this, and those who continue this work. I am very happy to greet our colleagues, representatives of governmental bodies and our partners who, despite the current situation with the pandemic, found the possibility and time, demonstrated their wish and are here today».

Alexey Ryabchikov, Director of the Institute of International Study Programs, emphasized an important fact – 30 years of international cooperation of ISTU! During this time, the has collaboration significantly expanded. At the moment, students from over 40 countries study at the university. Such a scale of international cooperation was highlighted by the Ministry of National Policy of the Udmurt Republic. Aleksandr Filatov, the Deputy Minister, who took part in the meeting, read the address of welcome.

In the presentation of Kalashnikov ISTU, Alexey Ryabchikov especially focused on the establishment of a branch of Association of International Students of Russia on the base of our university. The association helps students to adapt and integrate into our life. The representatives of AIS and its branch also participated in the meeting.

Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava was the first partner of our university. The honorable guests of this university took part in the festivities: Oliver Moravčík, Rector, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU, Štefan Stanko, Vice-Rector for Informatics and Sport, Maximilián Strémy, Vice-Rector for Strategic Projects and Development, Pavol Božek, a professor of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava, Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU. In his address, Oliver Moravčík stated: «It has been already mentioned several times here that we were the first, and we are proud of it. From my point, the most important is the exchange of young people for them to know each other better. Therefore, we brought the new agreement between our universities. I believe we’ll go on with our cooperation».

Thomas Raeder, a newly elected Doctor Honoris Causa of Kalashnikov ISTU, who was also present at the meeting, said: «I would like to greet and thank for the opportunity to participate in the festivities, to congratulate the university with the 70th anniversary. This is a very important milestone in its development. I would especially draw attention to people who work here. I was a human resources manager in my company and traveled around nearly all the world. I was looking for young talents, those who would be able to start their career in our company. For instance, I was in India, other Russian cities, such as Tolyatti, I was in Kiev. It happened that I also visited Izhevsk, talked to professors here. And I can say that, from my point, you have the best potential of human resources, in particular, in its intellectual development».

Sharma Vishal, the President of Association of International Students of Russia, addressed those present with good words: «I congratulate you with this remarkable occasion! I would like to wish you success in everything. We are proud of the opportunity to come here and address all of you, we are proud of cooperating with you. I would like to inform you that we have important projects on which we continue working to attract more foreign students to Russia. This year, our association is celebrating the 10th anniversary. If the epidemiologic situation allows, we hope to see your representatives at our holiday».

Aleksandr Elensky and Aleksandr Balitsky, the fathers of international cooperation of our university, warmly welcomed the audience and wished our foreign friends and partners happiness and prosperity.

In the final part of the reception, the agreement of cooperation between Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University and Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava was signed, and leaders and members of Association of International Students of Russia were handed the certificates of merit.
