Alexey Ryabchikov, Director of the Institute of International Study Programs commented:

«The partner with whom we’ve signed the agreement today – Jinan Zhishang Education Group – is a network school with 21 campuses in Shandong province. These are 60,000 high school students, in our system – 9-11 classes or 3-year professional training with the possibility of entering a higher educational institution after that. The peculiarity of Chinese higher educational system is that only about 40% of high school graduates can continue their education in Chinese universities. Therefore, the remaining 60%, as a rule, take international graduation exams to enter foreign universities. About 5,000 students out of these 60,000 study the Russian language. The main idea is to offer them a comfortable system to continue their education at ISTU.

– In the frameworks of the agreement, this year we’ll be working in a simplified format. We’ll establish the examination center and joint acceptance commission in Zhishang Education Group for the result of high school graduation exams passed in the center to be accepted as entrance exams to our university.

– In the perspective we are planning the cooperation following «3+4» educational format. I.e. for 3 years our teachers will teach students of Zhishang Education Group there to prepare them for studying at ISTU. In the first year, they will have classes with our Russian language teacher, in the second and third years – with specialized teachers – depending on the specialty chosen by the students. And after three years they we’ll be enrolled to our Russian-taught bachelor programs (and master programs afterwards).

– This year we’ll take the current graduates, they’ll take the graduation exams in the unified examination center, which will be accepted as entrance exams to ISTU. After that they will continue their education here in Russian – full-time, offline with other students.

– And in three years we’ll shift to the «3+4» scheme: three years of studies at Zhishang Education Group in China and four years of bachelor studies here, at ISTU.

– This will give us a chance to attract Chinese young people to study in Russian programs without any additional training. I believe you will agree that it is very perspective in the current situation. This is a very important step for us, which will allow our university to attract many Chinese graduates to continue their education at our university».
