russian-language-day-1On June 6 international students of Kalashnikov ISTU celebrated the Russian Language Day.

The Russian Language Day is considered as an important cultural, historical and national holiday in Russia.

The decision on celebrating the Russian Language Day as one of UN official languages was for the first time accepted at the meeting of the Department of Public Information of UN Secretariat on February 20, 2012 on the eve of the International Day of Native Language in the frameworks of the program of developing multilingualism and preserving cultural diversity.

One of the aims of this program is to support the equality of all six official languages of UNO: English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and French.

In 2011 this holiday was approved in Russia as the Russian public holiday.

russian-language-day-2Teachers of Department of Russian Language as Foreign told the foreigners about the history of Russian language, and the students, in their turn, shared why it is interesting for them to study the Russian language having prepared the colorful wall newspaper  «Give five!» where they showed their associations with the Russian language.

The culmination of the meeting was the video, in which the international students are reading the poem about the Russian language written by Irina Nekipelova, Head of Department of Russian Language as Foreign and a poetess. The students were very enthusiastic about this project and assembled the video themselves.

We wish you a pleasant viewing!
