Robots of the future – at the defense of the students of Egyptian-Russian University at Kalashnikov ISTU

00On June 21 the students in Mechatronics and Robotics of the Institute of International Study Programs defended their graduation projects.

Twenty students from Egypt defended their graduation projects and will be granted two diplomas — of Kalashnikov ISTU and Egyptian-Russian University.

All graduates presented practicable projects thinking, first of all, in what fields robots are required today. These are the robotized parking and different robots with manipulators.

The chairman of the qualification commission was Anton Petrov, Deputy Head of Industrial Engineering Department of Kalashnikov Group, the commission members were: Alexey Schenyatsky, Acting Director of the Institute of Modern Technologies in Machine & Automotive Engineering and Metallurgy, Aleksandr Romanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechatronic Systems, Yury Nikitin, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechatronic Systems, Andrey Abramov, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechatronic Systems, Head of the Department of LLC «CST», Konstantin Serkov, Chief Technologist of IRZ-Lokomotiv (Izhevsk).

In between the defenses our corresponded talked to Alexey Ryabchikov, Director of the Institute of International Study Programs:

— The students start working on graduation projects in autumn semester of the final year of studies at Egyptian-Russian University. As a rule, they work in small groups and present their team projects at the defense. They often demonstrate videos of the prototypes of designed products because it is impossible to bring the prototypes to Russia. Today’s projects vary. Many students expressed their wish to follow up with master studies at our university.

Andrey Abramov also shared his opinion:

— Here we see the example of how an international student targeted at the market demands in general and in the native country solves business tasks. Not everything is easy with specific technical solutions for Egyptian students. Most likely, the graduates of Egyptian-Russian University see themselves as managers or heads of these projects not going deep into its technical side. And our ISTU students — future designers and engineers — can create the technical project from scratch and we train them for such tasks.

All students successfully defended their graduation projects and got «excellent» and «good» grades!

We congratulate the students and supervisors! Let all their projects be successfully implemented in Egypt!
