Professor of Kalashnikov ISTU Eduard Krylov is elected IFToMM Chairman for Education

In the period 5 – 10 October, Tokyo hosted the 16^th World Congress of International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM). The Congress, held every four years, gathered over 500 participants from all over the world. They presented 353 reports in robotics and mechatronics, computational kinematics, dynamics of multimass systems, engines and power plants, power engineering systems, education in the theory of mechanisms and machines (TMM), gearings, link mechanisms and actuators of control systems, micromachines, biomechanics, tribology, dynamics of rotor systems, TMM history, reliability, transport mechanical engineering, oscillations and vibrations.

The congress is the major scientific event in machine science, in which all IFToMM technical committees, permanent commissions and interdisciplinary groups take part. It provides an opportunity for researchers, scientists and students interested in theory and practice of machines and mechanisms to share new ideas, experience and discuss future developments.

Kalashnikov ISTU was represented by Director of Goldfarb Institute of Mechanics Evgeny Trubachev and Head of Department of Mechanics Eduard Krylov.

Apart from profile technical committees, IFToMM comprises 3 permanent commissions: in education, ТММ history, and standardization and metrology. The congress program also contained the sitting of IFToMM Permanent Commission for Education and Prof. Eduard Krylov was elected its new chairman for a four-year period. Thus, after Prof. Veniamin Goldfarb (who was the Chairman of Technical Committee in Gearing, a member of Executive Council and Vice-President of IFToMM), one more representative of our university has become a member of IFToMM administration.
