Delegation of Jinggangshan University at Kalashnikov ISTU

On November 6 Kalashnikov ISTU hosted the delegation of Jinggangshan University (China). The aim of the meeting was the start of the joint study program of two universities – the bachelor program in Software Engineering Design. The unified register of joint study programs with all universities of the world is kept In China – it comprises over 2,500 such programs, three of them – with our university (the only one in Udmurt Republic).

At the meeting, Kalashnikov ISTU was represented by Acting Rector Aleksandr Gubert, Vice-Rector for Studies Olga Varfolomeeva, Dean of Faculty of Information Technologies Igor Arkhipov, Head of Software Department Mikhail Leonov, Director of Institute of International Study Programs Alexey Ryabchikov, Head of Educational Department Maria Maiorova, Deputy Director of Institute of International Academic Cooperation Sergey Babushkin and PhD student Sun Zhao.

The Chinese side was represented by Secretary of Party Committee Luo Xubiao, Director of International Mobility Department Su Xiaohe, Deputy Director of School of Electronics and Information Technologies Tang Weidong, Director of Institute of Mechatronics Zheng Dateng and General Director of Wuhan Education Corporation Han Yongwei.

Alexey Ryabchikov acted as the meeting moderator.

Welcoming the Chinese colleagues and partners, Aleksandr Gubert particularly pointed out:

— We have been working together for quite a while already and the joint study program is the result of our collaboration. I hope all matters will be agreed upon. I would like to wish good health and fruitful joint work to everybody.

In his address, Su Xiaohe thanked the inviting party and highlighted the aim of the visit:

— We appreciate what has been done in joint study program «Software Engineering Design» so far. The first batch of 58 students has been already enrolled to the program. Today we are here to discuss several issues and I believe that our meeting will be successful.

Then each of the parties demonstrated the presentation of its university.

Igor Arkhipov said that the program would be mainly realized by Software Department, the classes would be conducted in English by the teachers of the department.

The Chinese colleagues especially specified that the program didn’t envisage online classes: teachers of our university will teach students at Jinggangshan University during 3 ears. As for the 4^th year (final year), the Chinese students will have a chance to come and study at Kalashnikov ISTU. To make the decision, the students will be able to visit Izhevsk in the frameworks of winter/summer school to get acquainted with our university and the city, to have Russian language classes or a specialized internship in their study field.

The talks also covered certain technical issues on implementing the program, some of them will be discussed later during the video conference.
