Department of Scientific-Technical Translation and Intercultural Communication (former Department of German and French Languages) was established in 2011.

The main activities of the Department are the issues of high-quality scientific-technical translation and intercultural communication for the program «Translation and translation studies» (qualification «Linguist, translator»), as well teaching students of the university German and French.

The Department develops cooperation with German universities. The closest contacts are with Technische Universität Braunschweig. Every year students of Kalashnikov ISTU take part in summer language courses and receive confirmation certificates of their knowledge of German language, recognized in Europe.

• Pragmalinguistics
• Pragmasemantic research of dialogical communication
• Structural and functional properties of xenolects
• Development of modern technologies of teaching a foreign language, multimedia means of studying and teaching foreign languages
